After I joined a club named Home for animals, It was my first time to go to volunteer with club members. Especially, Volunteering for abandoned dogs was one of the tasks that I really wanted to do. I was so happy to volunteer with people who love animals.
After we arrived in the shelter, we changed our clothes. And wearing worn-out shoes was recommended. Even though we wore masks, we could smell the odor as soon as we entered the shelter. The smell was more severe than we expected.
In there, I could see numerous abandoned dogs. All of them were stuck in small cages. And because of the insufficient space, cages were piled up. Even though this was my first time to visit the shelter for abandoned dogs, I noticed that the environment is inferior. And such conditions made me keep thinking, why such precious creatures should stay here? I thought this situation is insane. It should not have happened. Seeing old and hurting dogs, I also thought that some people are so cruel.
Of course, Some of the dogs were shivering. And they seemed to be afraid of humans. But most of the dogs looked so pleased to see us. They looked like really wanting to play with us. Even though many of them were abandoned by people, the fact that they still liked humans made me feel so sorry.
I truly wanted to hug them, play with them. But I could not. First of all, Because of the poor condition, the shelter really needed help to sustain their shelter. Secondly, It was impossible having fun with all of them equitably.
There were so many dogs, so the shelter got dirty almost right after we cleaned the place. But club members tried their best to help the shelter as much as possible rather than grumble.
Even now, I cannot forget dogs that were so lovely and cute. They deserve to be loved than anyone else. However, The reality is that they are living in tiny cages. I am so upset that they were abandoned deliberately.
I want to give help in a fiscal way too. But for now, I can’t afford to pay a pile of money. I kept thinking about the way to help them. And finally, I decided to help them using my major knowledge.
In the future, I will be a software developer who can improve not only human beings’ life but also the life of animals’. And to do that, I have to study hard! I think this is gonna be a huge motivation for me from now on.
